Ryan was a 3-time All-State selection at Lowell High School (Lowell, IN). As a collegiate player at Michigan State University, he was a two-time All-Big Ten selection and two-time team MVP. Basham was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the 29th round in 2006. After an injury kept him from playing in the Blue Jays organization, Ryan played 5 years of independent professional baseball. In 2007, he earned the Frontier League's Rookie of the Year award. In 2008, he was named to the All-Star team and was awarded the All-Star Game's MVP honors. Ryan's coaching experience includes time at the high school and collegiate levels. He now exclusively coaches high school travel baseball. Ryan has been providing baseball and softball hitting instruction for over a decade. In 2016, he opened his own training location, Basham Baseball, in Whitestown, IN. He is an OnBaseU Certified Instructor.
